Leadership
Currently our Pastor is Hugh Giesbrecht, who has a Bachelor’s degree from Grace University in Omaha and a Master’s from Western Conservative Baptist Seminary in Portland, Oregon. He has been pastor since Sept., 1992. Hugh and his wife, Beth, have been married since 1978 and have three children.
We have committees for Christian Education, Missions, and building maintenance. We are led by lay deacons, who watch over the spiritual health of the congregation.
History
On February 9th, 1868 nine men and women got together to form the First Baptist Church of Tecumseh Nebraska, building its first building in 1881. In 1900 that building was torn down and the present wooden structure was erected in its place. We’ve been serving the Lord here ever since.
The church grew steadily with a growth spurt right after WWII. Today we still meet at the corner of 3rd and Jackson. The stained glass windows testify to people who came to know the Lord here.
